Homemade Halloween snacks are really special. Halloween is always a fun time of year. There are so many costumes to see, activities to enjoy, and candies to eat. Sweet Halloween treats can make a fun night feel even better. Here is an easy Halloween snack to make for the kids.
I am sharing an easy recipe for this snack, but I can’t take credit. I saw a picture of this snack on Facebook, and I decided to give it a try for my nephews. It requires a small selection of ingredients and a little bit of time to put together. You can also view how I made this homemade Halloween snack on my YouTube channel The Millennial Farmhouse.

This homemade Halloween treat consists of two fruits and some sweet additions. If you like apples and bananas, or if you want to get the kids to eat them, this is for you. Change your apples and bananas into Halloween monsters for some fun.
Ingredients
Apple Teeth
- Gala Apples – 3, sliced into thin wedges
- Peanut Butter (sub: caramel) – as much as desired
- Mini Marshmallows – as much as desired
Banana Ghouls
- Bananas – 4, cut in half horizontally
- Mini Chocolate Chips – 3 per banana half
- Candy Eyeballs – 1 per banana half
- Green Writing Gel (food coloring) – as much as desired
Gala Apples – Gala apples are soft and sweet and full of color. They are not too light or too dark in appearance, so they make perfect “lips” for apple teeth.
Peanut Butter – Peanut butter is savory and sticky. It pairs well with apples and marshmallows.
Marshmallows – Marshmallows are a great treat. They are soft, even textured, and perfect for faux teeth.
Bananas – Bananas are a sweet snack, and they make the perfect host for monster-like treats.
Candy Eyeballs – Candy Eyeballs are great for Halloween. They are spooky yet fun to eat.

What You’ll Need
The recipe should take no longer than a few minutes to make. It is simple, easy, and doesn’t require complicated tools.
Tray – You will need a tray to present your creative snacks.
Knife – You will need a knife to cut the bananas in half evenly and to slice the apples.
Butter Spreader – A butter spreader makes it easier to spread soft foods (butter, peanut butter, cheese, jams) onto other foods. You will need this to smear peanut butter on the apples.

Preparation
Apple Teeth
- Slice the apples into an even number of thin wedges.
- Spread peanut butter onto one side of each apple wedge.
- Line the mini marshmallows onto one apple wedge and press lightly into the peanut butter.
- Place another apple wedge on top of the marshmallows with the peanut butter upside down to make a pair of lips.
- Enjoy!
Banana Ghouls
- Peel the bananas.
- Cut each banana in half, horizontally, so you have an even number of monsters.
- Press the pointed ends of two mini chocolate chips into the bananas near the cut half to look like eyes.
- Place a third chocolate chip onto the banana underneath and center to the other two chocolate chips to create a mouth.
- Enjoy!
OR
- Peel the bananas.
- Cut each banana in half, horizontally, so you have an even number of monsters.
- Dot the banana in the center near the cut half with green writing gel.
- Place a candy eyeball onto the gel, in the center, to create a cyclops eye.
- Draw a smile below the cyclops eye with the green writing gel.
- Enjoy!

Tips
You can use the eyeball candy and green writing gel to give it a creepy look, or leave it out and stick with the chocolate chips. You can also use the writing gel to add more decoration to the banana ghouls. Get creative!
Thoughts
I was brainstorming video ideas for my Youtube channel, and I wanted to make a Halloween inspired snack. I saw a picture on Facebook with these creative treats. These are not my ideas, but I wanted to make them anyway. It was fun to make them for my nephews. They weren’t interested in making these treats, but they did like eating them. I found these to be interesting, and they provided a nice change for this Halloween season. In addition to this snack, I also made two Halloween potions, or inspired iced lattes. You can find the recipes for an Apple Pie Potion and a Ghostly Marshmallow Mocha on this blog and in the Youtube video I shared.
I usually play around with different snacks and drinks I like. You can find more recipes, such as my homemade peanut butter chocolate chip cookies or my mini summer butter cakes on this blog. All of these treats are easy to make and perfect for all ages.
I hope you like this recipe and don’t forget to watch the full video on YouTube.
